The following educational activities prepare graduate students to become successful future researchers.
1. Special Lectures on Techniques of Environmental Analysis
These aim to promote cooperative research through the provision of cutting-edge techniques of environmental analysis from Kyoto University and CRECET-affiliated analytical companies, to Chinese researchers and graduate students.
2. e-learning in New Environmental Engineering I/II, Advanced
Remote lectures from Kyoto University, Tsinghua University, and the University of Malaya, which aim to introduce the latest developments and leading research in environmental science and engineering.
3. Special Lectures on the Latest Environmental Technology of Japan
Teachers from Kyoto University are invited to the Shenzhen Graduate School to introduce the latest environmental technology of Japan.
4. Student Internship Program
In order to enhance communication among students of Kyoto University and Tsinghua University, each year Japanese students visit China, and Chinese students visit Japan, to learn about the environmental technology and environmental problems of both countries. Students in the program also participate in international seminars (see p. 6).
5. Double Master Degree Program
The Double Master Degree Program Kyoto University – Tsinghua University begins in 2019 (see p. 9).
6. On-site Laboratories Program
CRECET is one of the on-site laboratories established by Kyoto University in cooperation with overseas universities and research institutions. It collaborates with industry to solve environmental problems in Japan and China, conducts international cooperative research to address global environmental issues, and trains graduate students for leadership roles in the world. It is expected to contribute to the Double Degree Program and multidisciplinary communication (see p. 9).
Faculty members of both universities visit each other, enhancing academic exchange and promoting opportunities for cooperation. They organize visiting programs and a training system for Master’s and Ph.D. students, and conduct specialized e-learning courses. Currently, the e-learning is conducted by Kyoto University, Tsinghua University (Beijing Campus and Shenzhen Shenzhen International Graduate School), and the University of Malaya. Each semester, specialized courses are offered on the aquatic environment, solid waste treatment and recycling, air pollution prevention, etc. Through lectures, discussion, and English presentations, students can improve their English ability; and through exploring research about the latest technology of other countries, they can gain a global perspective, comprehensive skills, and knowledge in their major.
